Toothaches are distinctively annoying and every household must have seen random cases of toothache among their members at some point in time. Most toothache stories are nothing less than horrifying.

As the lockdown eased, one fine morning I woke up with a nudge from my wisdom tooth on to my cheek, only to find myself in a rather long but unostentatious pain. After a week of painkillers and ice creams I finally googled, ‘natural ways to treat toothache’, and Google unanimously voted clove oil the winner. The next step was to choose, and that is not an easy task when you have a plethora of options. As the pain elevated, my hunt for a good clove oil took priority and I did quite a bit of research about how to decide on one.

Clove oil is an essential oil, and before you buy an essential oil, the first thing you remember is, it should be of therapeutic grade. We come across a lot of brands selling essential oils these days, and we often hear people complain that they don’t work the way they promise to. There are different grades available and therapeutic grade is the highest and these are the ones that work. When I searched for ‘therapeutic grade’ clove oil, I was pleasantly surprised to see Speaking Herbs on the list. I have been using their Sweet Almond Oil for quite some time now and I didn’t realise that they had essential oils as well. Then I visited their website, I was very happy to see quite a few new products and to my luck the clove oil that they had was of therapeutic grade (15ml for INR 849). I immediately ordered it was delivered in less than 72 hours (when in constant toothache, 72 hours also seemed like a lot).

I applied it with the help of a cotton swab and I’m not exaggerating when I say that the pain went away within five minutes of application. First the area went a little numb and later the pain subsided. Two to three applications later the pain went away completely. The oil comes in a glass bottle and I was excited like a little child when I found a complementary rose water and a cotton tote bag inside my order. I had received the totes with my previous orders as well but the rose water was a surprise. My mom took the rose water and she couldn’t stop praising how it came in glass and had an easy spray applicator. I hadn’t used a new face oil in quite sometime and decided to look around for a new product. Had read and heard quite a bit about hemp seed oil and when I found it on Speaking Herbs, I decided to get one. I had a discussion with their clean beauty enthusiast on WhatsApp and it was a relief to know that I wasn’t chatting with a bot but with a real person. This time they sent a basil water tester instead of the rose water and again, as usual, I was ecstatic.

So yes, if you are looking for a clove oil, then Speaking Herbs is the brand you go to. Just dab a little oil in a cotton swab and apply it gently on the affected area.

P.S: I do not endorse or get paid by any brand, these are completely my personal opinions.
