Hot Chocolate

It’s a lazy morning. The weather in Delhi is suddenly being generous. The curtains in my room couldn’t give away the time of the day, so I ended up staying in the bed longer.
Got up with my mom’s daily morning call. She wasn’t amused that I was still groggy and sleepy. One should go to bed early and rise early, is something that she’s been trying to get me to understand for over 3 decades now. Indian moms don’t handle failure well! She believes it is how it is because dad had been lenient throughout. It’s his fault, that his daughter who is almost 1500 miles aways, was still in bed at such a time on a beautiful Sunday morning. I let dad take this blame for this one.

The weather called for a cup of hot chocolate. I remembered that I had kept away a pack of Turkish roasted cacao beans in my kitchen cabinet. The thought of a hot chocolate made me feel fresh (and mom’s bickering too). Entered my kitchen, opened the packet and put some beans in the grinder. The first whiff of the cacao started to flow in the air, you know the rich chocolate smell that can melt away any kind of stress?
Poured some hot water, a little sugar and there you go. Bliss in a cup.

So yeah, my Sunday morning smelled like chocolate. Yours?
